Guideline Development Groups
The NCCMH sets up an independent guideline development group for each clinical guideline being developed.
The guideline development group (GDG) looks at the evidence available and agrees the review questions, considers the evidence and develops the recommendations. Membership of the GDG therefore needs to be multidisciplinary, comprising health professionals and patient/carer representatives whose professional activities or care is covered by the guideline scope.
Refer to the NICE Guidelines Manual for more detail about the core elements of forming and running a GDG, including the appointment and the role of the Chair and its members.
