Alcohol Related Disorders: Towards an Integrated Care Pathway. Royal College of Physicians, London 10 May 2011
Summary ← An important series of national guidelines and a set of national quality standards on the identification, treatment and management of Alcohol Disorders have recently been published. The Royal College of Physicians supported by the NCCMH (Royal College of Psychiatrists and NICE) organised a one day conference called ‘Alcohol Related Disorders: Towards an Integrated Care Pathway’ to facilitate the implementation of these guidelines.

Summary ← This conference, supported by the National Institute for Mental Health in England, the
Healthcare Commission
and the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health is directed towards
doctors, mental health nurses, service users, carers, other clinicians, social care staff and managers. It
will explore attitudes and approaches to the use of routine clinical outcome measures in mainstream
mental health and social care services.

Summary ← The guideline contains clinical recommendations for good practice based on the best
available evidence in this field and is written for health care professionals, people with OCD and BDD and
their carers. The conference aims to convey clinical messages from the guideline and personal
experiences of people living with OCD and BDD. The conference is also geared to educate clinicians and
service users on how to use this guidance.

Depression in children and young people: recommendations from the NICE guideline. Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London 02 November 2005
Summary ← This guideline comprises clinical recommendations for good practice based on the best
available evidence in the field. Following the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency
(MHRA) report on the use of antidepressants in children and young people, there has never been a greater
need for clarity on the best ways of managing depression in this group. Speakers will include experts from
the group that developed the guideline and sessions will address the recommendations from the
guideline and what this means for current practice. Young people and their carers will be involved in
planning and presenting the conference.

A new “transdiagnostic” form of CBT for eating disorders. St. Georges Medical School, London 12-13 July 2005
Summary ← In this two-day workshop Professor Fairburn, Oxford University, will describe a unified
cognitive behavioural approach to the treatment of the full range of eating disorders seen in clinical
practice (including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and the various forms of atypical eating disorder).
